Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga. However, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues, or the yang tissues. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for all levels of students.

At Yogacara, we believe that there is no time when people should be excluded from practice because of financial restraints. We also know the challenges of new teachers seeking experience in the community. At Yogacara we have a system that allows everyone to Pay It Forward. Students attend this class by donation of canned goods. The teacher provides the service for free. Yogacara will then donate $3.00 for every student who attends these sessions to the Vancouver Food Bank.* This is true Karmic Yoga: giving without expectation of anything in return.
* Yogacara, may from time to time, change the charity to which donations are applied, based on need, time of year etc.
We all recognize that pregnancy is a unique and wondrous time in life. At Yogacara, our goal is to maintain a comfortable and calming environment for pregnant women. Class size is kept small, assuring that you will receive individual attention. The Pre-Natal classes strengthen the body for child bearing and aid in relieving the common discomforts your body experiences. Classes also help you find the time and space to look within yourself, allowing you to openly explore your own intrinsic knowledge about the process of birth. Women who are in the 2nd & 3rd trimesters of pregnancy, are asked to only attend Pre-Natal classes. We feel this is the safest & healthiest practice for women during this precious time.
Restorative
Restorative yoga is thought of by many as “active relaxation”. It is specifically designed for when you feel fatigued, weak or stressed from daily life. The props used while practicing the various restorative yoga poses are designed to provide support and be conducive to total relaxation. Additionally, each of the restorative yoga poses moves the spine in all directions, putting into practice the ancient yoga idea that a healthy spine promotes well-being. All levels are welcome and all props are provided for the class.
